Gyudon (Japanese Beef & Onion Bowl)

Ingredients
3 cups short grain rice
2 tbsp sesame oil
1 lb beef (thinly shaved)
1 large onion (sliced)
1 cup water
4 tbsp soy sauce
4 tbsp mirin
2 tsp powdered dashi
Directions
Begin cooking the rice
In a medium skillet, add the sesame oil and onion
On high heat, cook onions until carmelized
Add shaved beef to the skillet and cook until brown
Add the remaining ingredients (water, soy sauce, mirin, dashi)
Simmer until reduced (around 10 minutes)
Serve gyudon in a bowl over rice
