Beef Stroganoff II

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds round steaks or leftover beef

  • 4 tablespoons flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 4 tablespoons shortening

  • 1 onion thinly sliced

  • 1/4 cup beef stock or bouillon

  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard

  • 3/4 cup sour cream

  • 1 6 1/2 oz. can mushrooms

Directions

  • Cut meat into strips.

  • Dust with flour mixed with salt and pepper.

  • In skillet fry the meat and onion in 2 tablespoons of shortening about 3 minutes.

  • Add remaining shortening and stir in remaining 1 tablespoon of flour.

  • Gradually stir in beef stock and cook, stirring until sauce is smooth and thickened.

  • Stir in mustard, sour cream and mushrooms.

  • Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour (or until meat is cooked thoroughly and tender).
